Cantor Responds to President's Budget

News Release

WASHINGTON, DC - Republican Chief Deputy Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) issued the following statement today, in response to the release of President Bush's budget proposal:

"It is important that the Federal government create a budget that funds America's priorities without increasing the burden on America's taxpayers. This budget is a balance of common sense ideas which will help contain Washington runaway spending. It is my hope that Congress can control spending this year to exceed the President's forecast of budget surpluses within the next five years.

"Congressional Republicans have cut taxes the last 12 years which has helped fuel the unprecedented economic growth America has enjoyed. Congress needs to continue to find ways to cut spending and taxes so our families can make their decisions around the kitchen table, not the tax table."
